Transportation
in Costa Rica | Getting Around This of course does not mean
that the buses available are better in quality but they are surely
the best way to travel cheaply in the country especially for those
who have gone to visit the country. The only reason for this is that potholes are found in large numbers in the main thoroughfares of the main cities as well. You can also find that now the roads are well developed and marked and you can also get road maps and the directions from the Tourism Bureau of Costa Rica located in the city of San Jose. A huge percentage of tourists who travel to Costa Rica rent private vehicles for their transportation. There are a number of reasons why this is done. It is highly convenient as you are the one who is doing the driving. You will do it according to the way you have scheduled your tours. It is unrestricted and you are totally free to go where ever you desire. You can stop any where and also linger at one point if you like the place more. This happens when ever you are going for a sight seeing trip. But it is advisable
to deliver the car till the time you are prepared to leave San Jose.
There is one disadvantage as well. Driving in an unknown city can be
a very trying task. So you need to be well equipped with maps and
travel information before you venture driving a rented car. Taxis in Costa Rica are liable to charge more if they are made to ply outside the city so the best idea would e to ask for the approximate fare before you board the cab buses are another good yet cheap option and they are found in large numbers.
